A Celebration of Nature, People, and the Urban Landscape
Welcome, I am thrilled to present a collection of paintings that celebrate the painterly expression of landscapes, portraits, and figures in cityscapes. With works ranging from 1986 to the present day, the paintings showcase the evolution of my journey throughout the years.
Today, I present "Stump Beach". It is a painting that invites viewers to immerse themselves in the captivating allure of Salt Point State Park in California. This particular artwork is the result of a unique artistic process that weaves together sacred geometry and the natural world.
The journey of creating "Stump Beach" began in 2016, en plein air style, at the very location that inspired it—Stump Beach itself. Armed with a French easel and a heart brimming with reverence for nature's patterns, I embarked on a quest to capture the essence of this breathtaking coastal landscape. This painting carries an additional layer of significance, as it incorporates sacred geometric patterns as its foundation.
My process involves starting with a wooden panel adorned with a hand drawn geometric patterns. This design serves as a symbiotic connection between the artistic creation and the natural world it seeks to depict. The landscape is painted over the pattern, each brushstroke merging and interacting the earthly patterns of the landscape with the divine patterns underneath. This creates a dynamic interplay of shapes, lines, and colors, capturing the essence of the scene while honoring the deeper connection with the architecture of how matter comes into form.
As you explore my website, you will discover a range of expression that spans across over 37 years of my painting journey. From the early works that embody my formative years to the recent creations that reflect current inspirations. I will be adding, in the near future, more of the larger scale paintings as they are photographed.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
